个人简介:


张杰博士于1992年在中国科学院物理研究所获得激光化学博士学位。张博士在激光材料加工学术界及工业界拥有近30多年的工作经验,发表相关论文50余篇,先后在1994年和1997年获得了德国亚历山大冯-洪堡(Alexander von Humboldt)和日本的STA研究奖励基金,并于1997年获得了日本激光协会授予的进步奖(Prize of Progress)。


目前张博士是美国光波公司激光应用首席激光应用开发科学家和技术总监,主要负责关键技术及前沿的激光应用研发项目。在美国光波公司任职之前,张博士是在松下(Panasonic)美国波士顿实验室担任高级工程师和技术负责人。


Abstract


Coldprocess, high material removing efficiency and minimum material damages areunique advantages of picosecond (ps) and femtosecond (fs) laser processing dueto super-short laser-matter interaction time (10-12 - 10-13s) in comparison with nanosecond (ns) lasers. After intensive R&D effortsmade in last decades, tremendous progresses were achieved in the performance,reliability and cost of ps and fs lasers, in addition to the establishedlaser-material interactions within the ps-fs regime. Being innovativeprocessing techniques, the ps & fs lasers not only renovate existingproduction lines but also enable novel applications that were previouslyextremely challenging or impossible, such as bio-resorbable vascular stent(BVS), engine gasoline direct inject (GDI) nozzles, lithography thin masks(FMM), and AMOLED etc.As alaser-processing-solution provider, we are focusing on developinghigh-performance fs lasers and exploring ps & fs-laser-enabled techniquesto serve market quests and achieve the best return of investment (ROI).


Inthis paper, we will review the state-of-the-art industrial applications of theps & fs lasers and cover following topics: (i) emerging applications /materials requiring ps & fs lasers; (ii) effective uses of ps & fslasers; (iii) major challenges of ps & fs lasers and potential solutions.
